AUDITIONS
Auditions for the four musicals take place in March over the course of three weekends. All auditions will take place at the
Hoogland Center for the Arts
420 South Sixth Street
Springfield, Illinois
Please see below for additional information about the adult and children audition process.

Adult Auditions are for performers ages 14 years and older on or before March 29, 2008. Performers audition for all shows simultaneously in a casting call environment. Each show will select numerous adult performers for its cast. Adult performers are expected to complete both a dance audition and a vocal audition in order to be considered for casting. The vocal and dance audition portions may be completed independent of each other on any of the three adult audition days or the performer may chose to complete both the dance and the vocal audition on the same day. In any event, a performer must have completed both a dance and vocal audition by the conclusion of auditions. Please plan ahead to ensure the completion of both dance and vocal audition session prior to the close of auditions on March 15, 2008.

March 8, 9, and 15, 2008
Dance Registration: 8:30 a.m. -9:30 a.m.
1^st Floor Lobby, Hoogland Center for the Arts

During the dance audition, the Dance Captain will teach a movement/dance sequence to the auditioning group. Those auditioning will then perform the sequence in groups of eight in front of staff members from each show.

March 8, 9, and 15, 2008
Vocal Registration: 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
1^st Floor Lobby, Hoogland Center for the Arts

****Persons wishing to participate in vocal auditions must register in the 1^st Floor Lobby for that day’s vocal audition session. The auditions will take place in Theater Three, on the third floor of the Hoogland Center, beginning at 12:30 p.m. Vocal auditions are open to the public.

Persons auditioning will be expected to sing up to two minutes of accompanied music of their choosing. The Muni will provide a piano accompanist to play music provided by the performer. Performers may be asked to read a script excerpt at the time of their vocal audition.

****Adult Callbacks will take place during the afternoon and early evening of March 16, 2008. Show staffs will notify those performers that they wish to see at callbacks.

Adult Casting

****Adult casting will take place during the week of March 17, 2008. Show staffs will notify persons cast as soon as possible after Monday, March 17, 2008. Information will be posted at www.themuni.org as it becomes available

CHILDREN AUDITIONS

Saturday, March 29, 2008
Registration 8:30 a.m. --10:00 a.m.
Basement Dining Room, Hoogland Center for the Arts
420 South Sixth Street, Springfield, Illinois

Children must be at least eight years old and less than fourteen years old on March 29, 2008 in order to participate in Muni’s children’s auditions. Registration will take place from 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. in the basement Dining Room of the Hoogland Center for the Arts. All children should bring a photograph to the audition. Following registration, the children will be taught the audition song. The vocal audition will include the children performing the audition song in small groups and then individually before the show staffs. Children will not be taking part in a dance audition during the general audition. Following their vocal audition, the children will be released to the 1^st Floor Lobby. Callback notices will be posted in the 1^st Floor Lobby as soon as possible after each group of auditions is complete.

****Children casting will take place as soon as possible following the conclusion of children audition callbacks on March 29, 2008. Show staffs will notify persons cast as soon as decisions are made. Information will be posted at www.themuni.org as it becomes available.
