Muni opens its 2008 season with one of the most popular musicals of the Broadway stage, “Hello Dolly!” Dolly Gallagher Levi, a highly successful matchmaker sets her sights on Horace Vandergelder, the well known half-a-millionaire. Along the way, she introduces beautiful Irene Molloy to Vandergelder’s chief clerk, Cornelius Hackl; Molloy’s assistant, giggling Minnie Fay to Vandergelder’s junior clerk, naïve Barnaby Tucker and struggling artist Ambrose Kemper to Vandergelder’s weeping niece, Ermengarde. That’s when the fun begins!
“Hello Dolly!” is the irresistible story of one of Broadway’s best loved characters with musical numbers which include “Hello Dolly!” “Put On Your Sunday Clothes,” “Ribbons Down My Back,” “Elegance,” “It Only Takes a Moment” and many more.
