Disney's Beauty And The Beast

Synopsis
After a handsome but conceited prince treats a beggar woman poorly, the woman transforms into a beautiful enchantress and curses the prince to live as a hideous beast. Further, the prince's staff is all transformed into objects to do with their profession. The prince is given a magical mirror to view the outside world. To break the spell, he needs to learn to love a person for who they are, and get her to love him before a magical rose loses its petals. Meanwhile in a nearby village, a beautiful young bookworm (Belle) feels lonely and out of place. She lives with her eccentric but kind father, Maurice. Soon, Maurice goes off to compete at an inventors' fair but gets lost in the woods and ends up a prisoner at the beast's castle. Belle eventually finds the castle and makes a deal with the beast to let her father go in return for her staying there with the beast. As the beast's inner kindness slowly reveals itself, Belle grows to be in love with him. However, a jilted, self-centered and overly-masculine suitor from Belle's village, Gaston, takes a posse to 'save' her from the beast. Gaston ends up stabbing the beast. Luckily, when Belle rushes to the beast and expresses her love for him, he comes back to life again as a handsome prince.

- Belle - Female, 16+. A vibrant, intelligent young beauty who wants more out of life than an ordinary existence. Mezzo-Soprano
- Beast/Young Prince - Male, 21+. A Prince transformed into a terrifying beast for his lack of compassion; hot-tempered and commanding, but with a warm, loving heart buried far beneath his gruff exterior. Baritone
- Gaston - Male, 20+. The story's antagonist. The vain, egotistical, ultra-masculine villain determined to marry Belle. Baritone
- Lumiere - Male, 20+. A suave, French, debonair enchanted candelabra. The valet of the castle. Baritone
- Mrs. Potts - Female, 30+. A warm-hearted, maternal enchanted teapot. The cook of the castle. Mezzo-Soprano
- Babette - Female, 18+. A saucy, enchanted feather-duster, and the object of Lumiere's affections. The chamber maid of the castle. Soprano
- Madame de la Grande Bouche - Female, 30+. A former opera diva turned into an enchanted wardrobe. Mezzo-Soprano
- Cogsworth - Male, 30+. A tightly-wound, enchanted stuffy mantle clock and the head of the Beast’s household. The butler of the castle. Baritone
- Maurice - Male, 40+. Belle’s loving, eccentric inventor father. Baritone
- Lefou - Male, 21+. Gaston’s bumbling, toady sidekick. Baritone
- Chip - Male, 8-13. An enchanted teacup, and Mrs. Potts' little boy. Soprano
- Monsieur d'Arque - Male, 30+. The creepy, scheming proprietor of the local insane asylum, the Maison des Lunes. Tenor
