ABOUT THE SHOW

Shrek the Musical is based on the beloved 2001 animated classic about gruff ogre Shrek and his efforts to reclaim his swamp from the fairytale characters who have been sent there by evil Lord Farquaad. Shrek confronts the vertically-challenged Farquaad, who agrees to return the swamp to Shrek – if Shrek will deliver the fair Princess Fiona to Farquaad. With the help of his friend Donkey, Shrek encounters magic, mayhem, curses, dragons, and maybe even love.

Shrek presents a treasure trove of creative opportunities, including costumes, sets, puppets (there is a fire-breathing dragon after all) and more! Irreverently fun for the whole family, Shrek proves that beauty is truly in the eye of the ogre.

REVIEWS

of the Broadway Productions

"The most ingeniously wacky, transcendently tasteless Broadway musical since The Producers. Altogether irresistible!"
                                                                                                                                 - USA Today

"Shrek the Musical is sweet, big and extremely lovable."
                                                                                                                                    - Newsday

"Every fairy tale needs a fab far, far away, and the lavish sets and costumes by Tim Hatley take you there in suitably cartoonish, Technicolor style."
